For the twelfth time, the IU is organizing the International Conference on Authors Rights in Berlin to discuss current issues surrounding Generative AI with experts from the cultural, creative and media industries, law and politics.
Berlin, 21 November 2024: A decisive course will be set in November 2024, therefore Generative artificial intelligence will once again be the central theme of this year's IU conference. From the perspective of the content industry, three dimensions of action are decisive for the time being: regulation / licensing / legal action. We will therefore examine the question of sustainable, future-proof and viable management of AI value chains for rights holders from these three perspectives. We will be discussing this with selected experts on 25 November 2024 at the Academy of Arts on Pariser Platz.
The interdisciplinary study by Professors Dornis and Stober has attracted worldwide interest and will be presented once again - after an introduction to the topic from an ethical perspective by Prof Kirschschläger. With Prof Peukert, who heads the working group for copyright law with the Brussels Code of Practice, we have been able to win over the perfect person. Kai Welp from GEMA will give an insight into GEMA's new lawsuit. Thomas Heldrup from the Danish Rights Alliance and Johannes Studinger from Brussels provide insights from Europe, while Ellen Stutzman from the Writers' Guild of America West joins us from the USA.
Before we report again ‘From the engine room’ and thus on various sectors, we will discuss AI regulation in and from Germany - after a keynote speech by Dr. Christian Meyer-Seitz from the BMJ and with Parliamentary State Secretary from the BMWK Dr. Franziska Brantner and Dr. Andreas Görgen, Head of Office BKM.
Perspectives on the future from Jürgen Geuter, Ansgar Heveling and Dr. Thorsten Lieb, among others, will round off the day. Matthias Hornschuh, composer and speaker of the IU, and Managing Director Katharina Uppenbrink will lead through the program.
We offer simultaneous translation German-English and English-German.
