ARTificial Intelligence: Europe's art and creative industries in the age of generative AI

The “Genshagen Theses” will be presented and discussed at the follow-up event to the Genshagen Cultural Policy Forum 2025 “Culture, Democracy, Civil Rights and Copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Berlin.

What does digital sovereignty mean for Europe? What potential does artificial intelligence (AI) have for democracy, civil rights and creative activities? What future power lies in the creative element of creative work? What contribution can art and culture make to shaping a European identity and vision? And how must the framework conditions for a creative and democratic approach to AI technologies be set in order to secure democracy, cultural and artistic creation in Europe in the long term?

From June 19 to 21, 2025, 25 participants from Poland, France and Germany discussed the implications of generative AI for art, culture and the creative industries, and thus for society and the state, from cultural and media-specific perspectives at the Genshagen Cultural Policy Forum 2025. The conference addressed institutions and stakeholders from the Weimar Triangle and networked them with European partners in order to explore parallels, commonalities and possible alliances. This led to the development of future visions for the creation of framework conditions for a responsible and creative approach to AI in Europe.

The forum resulted in the “Genshagen Theses”, which will be publicly presented and discussed at the Polish Embassy on June 24. Following the discussion, the organizers invite you to a small reception.
